Description :The rice kernels should meet the following requirements:
first: specific requirements
1- natural (round / long rice) of ( ) origin should be of
latest harvesting season (200?).
2- broken grain 5 % max.
3- Chalky kernels 2 % max.
4- Red kernels 0.5% max.
5- Damaged kernels 0.3% max.
6- Heat damaged kernels 0.2% max.
7- immature kernels 0.5% max.
8- Glutinous rice 0.5% max.
9- Rough rice (paddy) 0.1% max.
10- Extraneous matter 0.1% max.
11- Moistures content 13% max.
12- Should be free from husked rice.
13- Should not be genetically modified.
14- Rice to be with normal colour, taste and odour.
The percentage of defects (2/10) by weight.
Long rice: broken = less than ? of the kernel.
Round and medium rice: broken = less than ? of the
kernel.
Second: health requirements
1- Rice should be produced, handled and prepared in
accordance with general principles and code of practice of
food hygiene in addition to any instructions issued by
health authorities.
2- Should be free from dead and live insect and their
metamorphosis or rodent excretes.
3- Should be free from mould growth or from particles
effected by mould.
4- Total of mycotoxins should not exceed 2 microgram /kg.
5- Pesticide residue shall not exceed limits set by codex code.
6- Rice to be untreated with any harmful chemicals.
7- Rice should be free from any (& or b) radiation
particles, americium 241, plutoniums 238 and 239,
strontium 90 and the quantity of radiating materials from
cesium isotopes 134 and 137 must not exceed 30
becquerel (bq).
