Description :Hi,
We are seeking to buy solid bars with quality AISI 4145 HM
fully heat treated (quenched and tempered); mechanical properties
and dimensional tolerances shall be according to API spec7 and impact
strength following, ASTM A 370 , minimum value 52 joules at +20c.
ultrasonic tested, no short bars accepted
peeled bars; tolerance on length -0/+6 inches
Minimum yield strength: 110,000.-psi 3 1/8" through 6 7/8"
Minimum tensile strength: 140,000.-psi 3 1/8" through 6 7/8"
Minimum elongation percent: 15
Minimum brinell hardness: 285
Max. brinell hardness: 330
Straightness:
Deflections shall be corrected by cold press straightening.
Straightening shall be followed by a stress relieving treatment.
Impact Test: Longitudinal sample shall be taken at one inch below
the surface. Impact value shall be tested in accordance with
ASTM A 370 type A, Charpy V Notch
1. The test shall be carried out at: + 20?C- Minimum value 52 Joules
The supplier shall guarantee a minimum value of 30 Joules at minus 20?C.
Surface Finish: The outside surface finish shall be peeled and free
of surface defects as laps, cracks etc... Surface imperfections shall be
removed by grinding.
Quality control:
Ultrasonic Inspection: (Method ASTM a 388)
The entire volume of 100 % of each bar shall be examined.
Ultrasonic examination of each bar shall be performed in accordance
with the flat bottom hole procedures specified in ASTM A 388.
Calibration: Distance amplitude curve (D.A.C.) shall be based
on 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) flat bottom hole.
Acceptance Criteria: Single indication exceeding reference distance
amplitude curve is cause of rejection Multiple indications exceeding 50%
of the reference distance amplitude curve are cause of rejection.
Multiple indications are defined as two or more indications
(each exceeding 50% of the reference distance amplitude curve)
within ? inch (12.5 mm) of each other in any direction.
At delivery, material certificate referred to in this specification are
issued by the manufacturer to asses the correctness of the material ,
according to EN 10204 -3.1 and API SPEC7, per batch and in which
are specified :
1. Type of product
2. Sonson order number
3. Grade
4. Heat number
5. Batch number
6. Bar numbers connected to the heat number and batch number
7. Chemical analysis
8. Dimensions
9. Mechanical properties
10. Non-destructive tests
11. Heat treatment process
12. Melting process
