1.1 General
1.1.1 The meters described within this specification are to be used with
cold potable water for customer service. Maximum working temperature of
the water meter is 50oC.

Water meter shall comply with ISO 4064 standard (measurement of
water flow in closed conduits-meters for cold potable water).

All water meters shall comply with BS 5728/1 Class B measuring
requirements.

1.1.2 Types of water meters

Though there are wet and dry type of water meters in use, from operational
difficulties point of view, the Addis Ababa Water and Sewerage Authority
requires strictly Dry - dial type of water meters for all sizes. This
dry-dial type can be either magnetic drive or mechanical drive. This
specification is limited to the following types of cold water meters.
