Description :The battery should be a vented-type heavy duty tubular lead acid or valve regulated (VRLA) battery of nominal value 12V. In case of VRLA the design precautions taken to electrolyte stratification must be clearly mentioned.
The battery shall meet the requirements and recommendations given in IEC 60896 part1/ IEC 61427.
The battery must ensure safe and reliable operation in the whole range of ambient temperatures from -5O C to + 40 O C,
Humidity d90%. a) Life expectancy beyond +25 C may be specified. b) Discharge performance and capacity below 5 deg Centigrade may be specified.
Technical specifications of the battery including the nominal capacity at a certain current (e.g. I10, I20, I100 ), the number of cycles at different depth of discharge and maximum depth of discharge shall be clearly indicated.
Cycle life of the battery (i.e., before its residual life drops below 80 percent of the rated Ah capacity), at I10 must exceed 1500 cycles when discharged down to an average depth of discharge (DOD) of 50 percent at the discharge rate of 10 hours.
The maximum permissible self-discharge rate is 5 percent of rated capacity per month at 20�C.
The battery shall have a certificate of compliances issued by any of the laboratories listed in Annexe XII with IEC 60896 Part 1. Charge efficiency of the battery may be specified.
